We’re excited to invite you to a new opportunity: a five-day domestic mission trip to the Bronx, New York!

This trip is open to 25 juniors and seniors from St. James Academy who are interested in serving the poor, exploring the streets of New York, working alongside different religious orders, or simply asking the Lord “What are you calling me to do with my life?”

During the week, you’ll have the chance to serve alongside religious organizations across New York City that support communities facing a variety of challenges—financial, emotional, physical, and spiritual. It’s an opportunity to step outside your usual routine, experience new cultures, and grow close to Christ the Poor.

In addition to service, the trip will include time for reflection, conversation, and prayer through a lens of “vocation”. By looking at the gift of our life and the charisms we have been given, we will discover how to offer these back to Christ at the personal, local, and global level. Students will also have the option to spend time and serve with a religious community, learning about their way of life and the different ways people choose to live out their values and purpose. Whether you are interested in religious life, married life, or consecrated laity—all that’s required is a willingness to be open, curious, and engaged!

STEPS TO APPLY:

Please complete the application by May 22, 2026. Application does not guarantee acceptance. You will be notified of selection by May 30, 2026. 

A $500 deposit is required upon acceptance. The total cost is approximately $1,200, which includes 4 nights at a retreat center in the Bronx, most meals, airfare (still being finalized), transportation, New York City excursions, and miscellaneous trip expenses.

2027 International Mission trip

The school is offering this international mission trip to Costa Rica, through Unbound, for current Juniors & Seniors. The trip is planned for Spring Break of 2027, and is available for members of the classes of 2027 and 2028. Students will serve the local community and meet some of our sponsored friends. Reservations will be limited.

More information will be available at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year.
